A new restaurant in Moncton is the first restaurant in the province to offer a vegan and raw menu.

One of Green Heaven’s most popular items on the menu is wheat grass —not only juiced on the premises but grown there too, along with most of the sprouts and greens used. 

The raw menu also features quiche, wraps and tacos among other things.

Owner Gratzia Watson said as more people are trying to eat well, her business is growing.

“It's still a fast food world we live in, right. People still want to be able to come in and get a lunch or get something to pick up and go, but something that's healthier for you,” said Watson.

Nikki Dancause has worked at the restaurant since it opened. She said some people are leery at first but they usually come around.

“The most surprising thing about when you eat our food is the taste. All the flavours, there's so much density and so much variety in just that one plate.”

Watson said to her this is more than just a business. The registered nutritionist wants to help people feel better, one meal at a time.

“It's definitely my mission,” she said. “I wouldn't be doing anything else.”
