12 people displaced by fire at Paquetville seniors residence
Red Cross has extended help for 12 tenants whose home was heavily damaged
The Red Cross says it is increasing emergency support for 12 people who were displaced when fire caused extensive damage to a seniors residence in Paquetville on the weekend.
No injuries were reported in the fire Saturday at 1156 rue des Fondateurs in the village near Bathurst.
Tenants were hoping to return to the building Monday, but the owner said extensive repairs are needed and residents won't get back in for a while.
The Red Cross in New Brunswick arranged for emergency purchases such as clothing and food and helped with other essentials for the displaced residents, the agency said in a news release.
For the time being, the residents have been placed in temporary lodging at local motels
