The girl told RCMP a man in a vehicle offered her a ride on Mountain Road.

Codiac RCMP are investigating an alleged attempted abduction of a teenaged girl in Moncton on Wednesday.

Police received a call around noon that a 15-year-old girl had been approached by a man in a vehicle on Mountain Road, said Const. Damien Thériault.

She reported that the man had offered her a ride and when she refused, he got out of the car.

The girl told police she managed to get away by running to nearby Moncton High School, said Thériault.

Neither the RCMP nor the school district have received any other reports of similar activity near the school, he said.

But police are urging people to be vigilant.

"Keep an eye out and if anyone finds themselves in a similar situation to this one, they should do exactly as that young person did and find a safe spot to run to," said Thériault.
