RCMP investigating 2 suspicious fires near Salisbury
Both buildings were empty when the fires broke out
RCMP say they believe arson may be behind two suspicious fires that broke out early Saturday morning in The Glades, New Brunswick near Salisbury.
Fire crews responded to one fire at a vacant home on Sanitorium Road, about 40 kilometres west of Moncton, when they discovered another home on fire about five kilometres away.
Neither building was occupied, one is a seasonal property.
Cpl. Phillip Cyr said police believe the fires were set intentionally and that the homes may have been targeted.
"These are not the first arson investigations that District 11 has investigated in this area," said Cyr. "We don't know at this point if they are linked to one another and there certainly has been a series of fires throughout the years in this particular area of the province."
The RCMP is working with the Petitcodiac volunteer fire department and a forensic unit in their investigation.
No arrests have been made. The cause of the fires has not been released.
