A 19-year-old is facing charges of impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident after a crash in Saint John early Saturday morning, according to police.

Staff Sgt. Rick Caswell said the man's pickup truck collided with a taxi van at the intersection of Main Street and Chesley Drive.

“The damage to the vehicles was quite major. The front end on both vehicles was damaged heavily along with several other points of impact, and the hit vehicle came to a stop approximately 50 to 60 metres down by the entrance to the Holiday Inn,” he said.

Caswell said the pickup truck then took off, driving on only three wheels.

It was stopped near the Reversing Falls Bridge.

No one was seriously hurt in the crash.
