Oromocto food bank short on supplies

The Oromocto food bank's supplies are at a record low, according to the executive director.

'Lower than I've ever seen it,' says executive director

The Oromocto food bank is getting short on supplies and has several fundraisers planned in the coming weeks to try to restock the shelves.

"We are lower than I've ever seen it," said Jane Buckley, executive director of the Oromocto & Surrounding Area Food & Clothing Bank.

Dry pasta, canned soups, meats and vegetables are among the September wish list, she said.

"The summer is finished and people are back and our stock has been getting low all summer. As we get into the fall season we have pretty much used up everything we had from the spring so it seems to just be the time of year."

Stuff-a-Bus will be held on Sept. 21 at the Sobey's parking lot.

The Simple Men Poker Run will also be held that day at the food bank's new location at 101 D'Amours, which officially opened last month.

On Sept. 28, there will be a community yard sale.

The food bank serves about 500 clients every month.
