Off-road accident near Blackville injures 2 men

Two men were injured in an off-road vehicle accident near Blackville over the weekend.

Driver, 28, of Moncton, airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

A 28-year-old Moncton man remains in hospital with serious injuries after the off-road vehicle he was driving rolled over near Blackville on Saturday.

The man had to be airlifted by the RCMP helicopter, due to the location of the crash, off of South Cains River Road, and the seriousness of his injuries, Sgt. Blair Lutz stated in a news release.

A 29-year-old male passenger, from Edmundston, suffered minor injuries. He was treated at the Miramichi Hospital and released.

Another passenger, a 28-year-old Moncton man, was not injured.

The three men were on the side-by-side off-road vehicle when the driver lost control, about 10 kilometres south of Blackville, said Lutz.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash, he said.

The men had been at a fishing camp in the area, said Lutz.

The investigation continues.
