The 25-year-old man had been airlifted to Halifax around noon, less than an hour after the incident occurred at the Ben Eoin Beach Campground.

He had sustained serious head injuries, Cape Breton Regional Police said.

An investigation has determined nothing criminal took place, police said on Thursday..

The only other person in the car was the driver, they said.

It's still unclear why the man jumped out of the car, or how fast the car was going at the time, police said.

The man had jumped out as the vehicle was leaving the campground, they said.
