NBCC Moncton campus lockdown over report of gunman lifted
RCMP deemed threat unfounded after search of school and area
A lockdown at New Brunswick Community College's Moncton campus was lifted Thursday around 10 a.m. after RCMP deemed a report of a man with a gun in the area unfounded.
Codiac Regional RCMP officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious person, possibly carrying a handgun, in the area of the Mountain Road campus at about 8:20 a.m., Sgt. André Pepin said in a statement.
Officers searched the campus and the surrounding area, but "nothing was found to substantiate the complaint," said Pepin.
Police remained on the scene for about an hour, he said.
