Four people were forced out of their home on Charlotte Street in Fredericton when a fire broke out early Sunday.

Firefighters arrived at about 4:30 a.m. to battle a blaze that began in an outside wall at the back of the building. The fire eventually made its way inside the home, platoon chief Steve Fraser said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within an hour and the building was evacuated safely, he said.

No one was injured.

Among those displaced is a couple and their infant son, who are now staying with neighbour while they await for an assessment from their insurance company.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but Fraser said it's not deemed suspicious and appears to be accidental at this point.
