History buffs in Saint John got a chance to find out the story behind some of their prized possessions last weekend.
The New Brunswick Museum opened its doors to anyone with an heirloom to learn more about the item and its history.
Gary Hughes, a curator with the museum, said people often want to learn more about the items in their house, some of which may have been passed down to family members over the years.
"Where they're heirlooms there is a connection to the individual that might be emotional in terms of a person that's passed away. They want to keep it, but they want to know what it is. Very rarely do we get asked values," Hughes said.
