A new shuttle service will begin running this week between Shediac and Moncton, N.B.

EastLink Shuttle will have morning and afternoon runs between the two communities.

Shediac Mayor Raymond Cormier expects commuters, hospital patients, tourists and seniors will use the service.

"We have a lot of senior citizens here living in Shediac," Cormier explained. "[This] will give them an opportunity to go to Moncton as often as they want to go now, instead of only relying on maybe relatives to bring them down on the weekend."

Cormier pointed out not everyone has a car and some find it hectic to drive in Moncton.

EastLink Shuttle owner Georges Le Roc said it took three years to get approval from the province to offer the service.
