A man facing charges of sexual assault against three women in Moncton will remain in jail until at least Monday, a provincial court judge has ruled.
Judge Anne Dugas-Horsman said Thursday she needs more time to review case law before she decides whether to let Akili Olivier Koro, 31, out on bail until his trial.
Koro, of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, was charged earlier this month with several offences, including kidnapping, sexual assault with a weapon and forcible confinement, in connection with two sexual assaults that allegedly occurred on Sept. 20 and Oct. 31.
In both cases, the victims were walking on St. George Street between midnight and 3 a.m. when a man approached them, police said. The women got into the man's car and were driven to another location where they were allegedly assaulted.
Koro has also been charged in a similar case with a woman dating back to March.
RCMP believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
