A 33-year-old Moncton man has pleaded guilty to five charges related to sexual offences against a child.

The man, who cannot be identified because of a publication ban in place to protect the victim, was arrested this month after an investigation by the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

Police say they searched the man's home on May 8 and seized computers and data storage equipment.

The charges include possession of child pornography, sexually touching a person under the age of 14, inviting a young person under the age of 16 to sexually touch and making child pornography.

He was sentenced to two years in prison on May 16.

Sentencing on some of the charges is still pending, according to a police statement.

The RCMP's investigation is ongoing.
