Four Miramichi residents were left homeless on Wednesday afternoon following a fire that destroyed their home.

The Miramichi Fire Department says the fire started at about 5 p.m. at the older, wood-frame home on Duke Street.

A woman and her two children, ages 8 and 9, rented the main levels of the home and a man rented the basement.

No one was injured in the fire.

There was no immediate word on the cause.

The Red Cross is helping the four people who were displaced by the fire.
