A 75-year-old man was shot in the leg during a violent home invasion in the Moncton area early Friday morning, say police.

RCMP are looking for a trio of armed males who broke into a home on the Homestead Road in Berry Mills around 5 a.m.

The homeowner and his wife were both taken to hospital. Police say the man's injuries are not life-threatening.

Police say they're unsure if anything was stolen from the home

All three suspects, who fled in a vehicle, are described as having slim builds.

They spoke English and were dressed in dark-coloured clothing.
