Man charged with sexual assault, kidnapping in Moncton
A Sainte-Marie-de-Kent man faces several charges stemming from two sexual assaults that took place in Moncton over the last two months, say police.
RCMP said the two incidents involved separate victims.
In both cases, the victims were walking on St. George Street between midnight and 3 a.m. when a man approached them. Police said they got into his car and drove to another location where they were allegedly assaulted.
Akili Olivier Koro, 31, was charged on Monday with aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping and assault causing bodily harm for the incident on Oct. 31.
He was also charged with forcible confinement, sexual assault with a weapon, assault, and mischief for an alleged incident on Sept. 20.
Koro will appear in court Wednesday for a bail hearing.
The Codiac RCMP said they think there could have been other assaults in the last few months that haven’t been reported yet.
