A man has been charged after allegedly trying to rob two businesses in Saint John, N.B. early Saturday morning.
The trouble began at 5:30 a.m. when police received a report of an attempted armed robbery at the Hilton Hotel.
The suspect had disappeared by the time police arrived. Nothing was taken from the hotel.
Half an hour later, around 5:55, there was a second robbery call.
Police went to the Garden Street Irving where a thief had taken off with money.
Sgt. Ron Cooper said police officers then spotted a suspicious car in the uptown area.
"They attempted to stop the vehicle and a short chase ensued. A male suspect, he parked the vehicle and took off on foot and he was apprehended on foot," he said.
Cooper said the man, in his 30s, has now been charged with both incidents.
He'll appear in court on Monday morning.
