A man wanted in connection with an assault of a two-year-old boy in the summer of 2011 has been arrested without incident, say RCMP.

Benoit LeBouthillier, 34, of Bas-Caraquet, was located at a residence in Cap-Bateau Friday morning, Sgt. Alain Tremblay stated in a release.

LeBouthillier pleaded not guilty in September 2011 to charges of assault causing bodily harm to the boy and uttering threats against the boy's mother.

But he failed to appear in court in January to stand trial and a warrant was issued for his arrest, said Tremblay.

On Nov. 19, RCMP appealed to the public for help in locating LeBouthillier. It's unclear from the release whether a tip from the public led to his arrest.

LeBouthillier, who is in custody, will appear in court at a later date, said Tremblay.
