RCMP in the Woodstock area of New Brunswick say they’ve charged a young man with murder in the death of an 82-year-old woman who was found dead in her home on Saturday.
Police are investigating a home in Richmond Corner, N.B. after Sarah Kennedy’s body was discovered early Saturday.
One of the neighbours told CBC News that she called Kennedy’s family when she noticed the TV had been on for days, something the neighbour said was out of the ordinary for the victim.
When the family went to check on her, that’s when the elderly woman’s body was found.
Kyle Edmund Scott, 19, who lives in the Woodstock area was arrested Saturday. He was charged Sunday morning with second-degree murder.
Police said that Kennedy's vehicle was stolen from her home. They said Scott was arrested driving it.
Scott has been remanded into custody until his appearance in Woodstock Provincial Court scheduled for Thursday morning where he is expected to enter a plea.
An autopsy will be performed on Monday to determine exact cause of Kennedy's death.
