The RCMP are investigating the sudden deaths of husband and wife, Patricia and Clarence Colford, in Howard, a small community southeast of Blackville.

The Northeast District RCMP say they received a 911 call from a family member yesterday afternoon and were called to the home on Colford Lane on Wednesday at 3:50 p.m.

Bodies of the 68-year-old man and 62-year-old woman were found inside the house.

The police say autopsies are being conducted to determine how the couple died.

"At this point police do not believe that anyone else is involved in the deaths," said Const. Jullie Rogers-Marsh.

Earlier on Thursday RCMP officers spoke to family members in the area.

Family members told CBC News they did not want to appear on camera, but said they had just seen Patricia last week.

They said they were shocked by the news of the couple's death and are trying to understand what happened and why.

The investigation is continuing.
