Hoax charge for suspect in Moncton airport threat
Traffic diverted from airport on Saturday
Moncton police have charged a 26-year-old woman with a hoax regarding terrorist activity after she was arrested at the Greater Moncton International Airport on Saturday.
The criminal code charge is for the act of relaying information that could raise apprehension about terrorist activity.
Codiac RCMP said the woman, who was destined for Toronto, made some kind of comment or statement while going through security that prompted her arrest.
The arrivals area was subsequently evacuated, traffic was diverted away from the airport and several planes were delayed.
A suspicious package was identified, but Sgt. Andre Pepin said nothing dangerous was discovered.
The suspect will be back in court on Wednesday.
