Head-on crash kills Moncton-area woman
RCMP say alcohol was a contributing factor in fatal accident
A southeastern New Brunswick woman was killed on Wednesday night in a head-on collision on Killam Drive in Moncton.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday, according to statement released by the Codiac RCMP. The crash happened near the intersection of Edinburgh Drive and Killam Drive.
A 36-year-old woman from Berry Mills died at a Moncton hospital as a result of her injuries sustained in the accident.
The woman was the only person in her vehicle and was driving eastbound on Killam Drive.
A 41-year-old Lakeville man was driving in the westbound lane. He had to be extracted from his vehicle, according to the police.
The man was taken to a Moncton hospital with undetermined injuries. A passenger also sustained undetermined injuries, according to the police.
The RCMP said in a statement that alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the fatal accident.
The police say charges against the 41-year-old driver are expected.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist is helping in the crash investigation.
