A 17-year-old girl from Grand Manan was killed and four other teens were injured in a single vehicle crash in the village on Sunday night.


West District RCMP are still trying to determine the cause of the crash that killed one teen and injured four others in Grand Manan on Sunday.

The crash occurred on Whistle Road at about 9:30 p.m., say West District RCMP.

The girl, who was a passenger in the minivan, died at the scene, Sgt. Ross Davis said in a statement.

Her name has not been released.

Two other girls and two boys, all aged between 14 and 17, were transported to a hospital with undetermined injuries, he said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation with the assistance of a collision reconstructionist.

Grand Manan has a year-round population of about 2,460, according to the 2006 census.
