A 22-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Gloucester County, just south of Bathurst, N.B.

A 22-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Gloucester County, just south of Bathurst, N.B.

RCMP were called to a crash on Route 430 in Big River at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday.

Officers said they believe the vehicle hydroplaned and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

The 22-year-old driver from Rough Waters, N.B., was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the car.

The two people in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP say speed may have also been a factor in the crash. The investigation is continues.

The victim's name has not been released.
