The Fredericton Police are warning homeowners to be wary of a driveway paving scam that is being reported around the city.

Homeowners are being approached by scammers about chip sealing their driveways, according to the police.

Anyone interested in the service is then asked to pay upfront, with the promise of the work starting in the near future.

A police statement said that once the money is paid, the scammers aren't seen again.

“Police caution those looking for paving services to carefully research companies and representatives, check their qualifications and ensure that they also carry appropriate insurance,” the police department said in a statement.
