Fredericton police arrest driver following chase
A 40-year-old man is facing charges following a police chase Saturday night in Fredericton.
Fredericton police say they tried to pull a car over on Woodstock Road around 8:20 p.m., but the driver refused to stop and headed over the Westmorland Street Bridge and along Route 105.
Police pursued the vehicle, which crashed into a ditch about five minutes later.
The driver got out and ran into some nearby woods. Police searched the area with the help of a dog from the Department of Natural Resources.
About 50 minutes later a suspect was found, police say. He was arrested without incident and was not injured.
The suspect will appear in court either Monday or Wednesday. He is accused of dangerous driving, evading police and driving while disqualified.
