A 25-year-old Fredericton man is facing charges in connection with an alleged abduction of a Moncton woman.

Codiac Regional RCMP received a complaint of a possible kidnapping on Wednesday morning and arrested the suspect without incident in Centennial Park around 9:30 a.m., Sgt. André Pepin stated in a release.

A 19-year-old woman from Moncton was with the suspect at the time of his arrest, said Pepin.

She was uninjured, he said.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Moncton provincial court on Thursday to face charges of kidnapping with the use of a firearm and uttering threats.

The man and woman were known to each other, Pepin said.
