Two firearms and ammunition were stolen from vehicles in the Town of Sussex overnight Monday, say RCMP.

Police received seven complaints of thefts from vehicles and two reports of stolen vehicles between Monday night and Tuesday, Sgt. Andy O'Connell stated in a release.

The firearms and ammunition were among the items stolen, he said.

"It is believed the thefts are connected, but at this point no arrests have been made," said O'Connell.

The two stolen vehicles have since been recovered, said O'Connell.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 506-433-7700, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Meanwhile, police are reminding people to lock their vehicles, homes and sheds and to keep valuable items hidden from view.
