Fredericton High School graduates showed up in style to their prom on Monday night and continued a tradition of finding the most creative way to make their way to the event.

Parents, friends and onlookers lined up on the campus of the University of New Brunswick to watch the FHS grads arrive for their prom.

Alex Landine, a FHS student, said it was great to see so many people showing up to watch the grand entrance.

"It's really important. It's a big show. A lot of people come see it. It's fun. It's a big sort of ending to Grade 12 and I love seeing all the creativity with the cars too but especially with the homemade things."

Landine and his date were inspired to build a boat to sail in on after seeing a production of The Little Mermaid.

"I'll remember that in so many years, I'll be like, ‘I came in a boat and it was an actual boat and we made it,’" said Kiana Mozaffara.

This year’s competition wasn't about what ride was the best looking. Instead, judges looked at each ride to see how environmentally friendly it was.
