Prime Minister Stephen Harper is getting one of his cabinet ministers back.

Fisheries Minister Keith Ashfield is returning to work this week after recovering from bypass surgery.

A news release from Harper's office said the 60-year-old Fredericton-area MP has made a full recovery.

National Revenue Minister Gail Shea has been filling in for Ashfield since he suffered a heart attack in October.

Ashfield was a former minister in the New Brunswick government of Bernard Lord. He was appointed fisheries minister in May 2011.
