Federal fisheries minister returning to cabinet

Fisheries Minister Keith Ashfield is returning to work this week after recovering from bypass surgery.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is getting one of his cabinet ministers back.

Fisheries Minister Keith Ashfield is returning to work this week after recovering from bypass surgery.

A news release from Harper's office said the 60-year-old Fredericton-area MP has made a full recovery.

National Revenue Minister Gail Shea has been filling in for Ashfield since he suffered a heart attack in October.

Ashfield was a former minister in the New Brunswick government of Bernard Lord. He was appointed fisheries minister in May 2011.
