Andre Benoit may have built an outdoor rink for his family to enjoy but Friday night he invited local kids to get on the ice and have fun.
The father wanted to share the rink that is envied by kids and adults in his Charters Settlement neighbourhood.
Benoit hosted his own version of the NHL Winter Classic.
He invited 21 kids around the same age and skill level as his own two sons to take part in a hockey tournament.
The three teams played for a mini Stanley Cup.
"It's always fun to have people coming around, kind of seeing kids just enjoying themselves, and smiling, and winning and losing," said Benoit.
The parents enjoyed themselves as well.
"I think we all kind of grew up this way back in the day and you don't see it enough anymore now," said Dave Ferdinand.
Benoit said the tournament came together quickly and easily. He is now thinking of holding them on a regular basis.
