A man facing sex charges in connection with a daycare in the southeastern community of Notre-Dame has died.

Ronald Gaudet, 64, was charged in June with sexual interference, assault, invitation to sexual touching and forcible confinement against a single alleged victim about 10 years ago.

Gaudet had terminal cancer and died last Friday.

Hedwidge Surette, his 63-year-old wife, faces the same charges.

A preliminary inquiry is set for next March.

The charges stem from alleged incidents between 2000 and 2004 at the couple’s unlicensed residential daycare in Notre-Dame. The daycare is no longer in business.

The RCMP started an investigation after receiving a complaint.

Police have since asked for the public's help to track down other complainants.
