Ambir Solutions, an Atlantic-based IT consulting company, has signed a letter of intent to join global giant Ernst & Young.

"This transaction significantly enhances our local IT advisory capabilities and empowers us to make a real difference for our clients in Atlantic Canada, and right across the country," EY’s Canadian Chairman and CEO Trent Henry said in a statement.

Ambir's existing 60 business and IT consulting staff will be integrated into EY's existing practices.

They are expected to join the EY offices in Halifax, Saint John, Moncton/Dieppe and St. John's on June 20, when the deal officially closes.

EY will also welcome a new office in Fredericton at that time, making it its fifth in Atlantic Canada.

Ambir CEO Ian Cavanagh says he is "excited" about the deal.

"We’ll be able to work together to make a real difference for all of our clients. This move will also mean new possibilities for our people to collaborate on global opportunities," Cavanagh said.
