Donald Savoie's profile of Harrison McCain vies for book award
Three finalists named for $20,000 National Business Book Award to be presented May 26
A profile of Harrison McCain has earned New Brunswick author Donald Savoie a spot on the short list for one of Canada's most prestigious literary awards.
Savoie's book, Harrison McCain: Single-Minded Purpose, is one of three finalists for the National Business Book Award.
"Savoie, an academic and author, provides a comprehensive profile of a remarkable Canadian businessman and entrepreneur," states a news release issued Monday announcing the finalists. "He chronicles the circumstances and relationships that shaped Harrison McCain’s professional style and success.
"Based on McCain’s personal papers, the book is a family history, individual biography, business case study, review of public policy in Canada and a “how-to-succeed” manual."
The other finalists are:
- Jim Leech and Jacquie McNish for The Third Rail: Confronting Our Pension Failures;
- Nina Munk, for The Idealist: Jeffrey Sachs and the Quest to End Poverty,
The finalists were selected by a seven-member jury.
The winner will be announced on May 26 and receive a $20,000 prize.
