Bear with what may be a collar seen wandering around Grand Lake area raises concerns and questions. 4:52

A bear that appears to have a collar around its neck was captured on videotape by a CBC listener in the Grand Lake area on Saturday.

The wandering bear has raised questions and concerns among area residents.

The tight band and matted hair around the animal's neck has some people wondering whether it may have been kept in captivity before being released or escaping.

If that's the case, some people are worried the animal won't survive in the wild with winter on its way.

It's also possible the collar is a satellite tracking device, commonly used in wildlife research, especially on large animals.
