Cheque fraudster sought by Fredericton police
Police say middle-aged woman may be in disguise
Fredericton police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a middle-aged woman they say has been cashing thousands of dollars in bad cheques.
Police say the woman has opened phony bank accounts around the city and across the province, under the name Gail Graham, born in Aug. 1, 1955.
So far the woman, who has not been identified, has hit a number of banks, cashing cheques for amounts ranging from $12,000 to $20,000, police said.
She usually enters banks alone and on foot, carrying a cane and walking slowly, they said. She may be wearing a false tooth and a wig, they added.
Fredericton police are asking anyone with information to call Det. Rodney Wadden at the station or Crime Stoppers.
