Canada Job Grant emergency funding recipients revealed
Literacy groups whose funding was in peril due to Canada Job Grant will receive bridge funding
Nova Scotia's Department of Labour and Advanced Education has provided CBC News with the list of organizations who received bridge funding from the province last week while negotiations continue on the Canada Job Grant with the federal government.
On Friday, the Nova Scotia government announced $2.2 million in temporary funding to help groups facing cuts because of the expiry of labour market agreements between the federal and provincial governments and Ottawa's decision to shift money from literacy upgrades to industry-directed job training.
The bridge funding will keep those groups solvent until June. Many had been planning program cuts and layoffs at the end of March.
The 60 agencies provide adult learning courses, help immigrants and the disabled enter the workforce.
