Police say a body has been found in a wooded area near Shenstone, N.B.

The body was found around 11 a.m. Saturday by people in the woods.

A positive identification of the body has not been made and police would not comment on whether it was connected to the case of Sabrina Patterson, a Riverview, N.B., woman who has been missing since Oct. 30.

The body was found near the home of Patterson's boyfriend, Fred Prosser. Prosser, 31, was arrested Friday and charged with assaulting Patterson, 25, and breaking an order not to go near her.

RCMP said those charges were not related to Patterson's disappearance but to an Oct. 9 incident. Prosser is in custody and is due in court Nov. 9 to face those charges.

Patterson and Prosser have two children. RCMP have said they were investigating whether their relationship was connected to her disappearance.

Patterson's family and friends had organized a search party for the young mother Saturday.

At a press conference Saturday afternoon, RCMP could only confirm the body was found by people in the woods. Police sealed off the area around the body and were bringing in experts to help with the investigation.

Sgt. Gary Cameron said he did not know how long it would take to identify the body.
