Firefighters pulled a dead body from a bungalow that caught fire early Sunday morning in Nashwaak Bridge in central New Brunswick.

RCMP are investigating what killed the person and how the fire started. Investigators are being helped by New Brunswick’s coroner and the fire marshal's office.

RCMP say they are working to identify the victim.

Nashwaak Valley Fire Chief Adam Russell says the home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

“Flames coming from the doors and the windows, and the roof was starting to cave in," he said. "After we got the fire knocked down, we did recover a body from the structure.”
