A family of eight is temporarily homeless after a fire gutted their rented two-storey home this weekend in Belledune, N.B.

A family of eight is temporarily homeless after a fire gutted their rented two-storey home this weekend in Belledune, N.B.

The fire was reported shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday in the Noel Road home located about 30 kilometres northwest of Bathurst.

The family, including two adults and six children ranging in age from six to 18, are staying with a relative for now.

The Canadian Red Cross has helped the family with emergency purchases including clothes, and other essentials.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
