A Belledune man charged with the attempted murder of two children in November 2015 pleaded guilty in Campbellton provincial court on Wednesday morning.

The Crown prosecutor dropped two related charges of administering a noxious substance.

The 46-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the children, will receive his sentence from Judge Brigitte Sivret on April 4.

He was found fit to stand trial after a psychiatric evaluation earlier in 2016.

The investigation began on Nov. 3, 2015, after a vehicle crash in Blackland.

One man and two children, all related, were taken to hospital after the accident.

The children were then sent to the IWK Health Centre in Halifax for treatment and later released.

The accused has been remanded into custody until sentencing.
