Fredericton police say a fire that damaged a construction trailer at the Westmorland Street Bridge was deliberately set.

Cpl. Ross Chandler, with the Fredericton Police Force, said firefighters were called to the trailer at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

He said crews doused the flames quickly and no one was hurt.

The trailer was "heavily damaged," he added.

Chandler said firefighters say this was a case of arson.

No arrests have been made.

Traffic on the four-lane Westmorland Street Bridge is down to two lanes through the summer to allow for repairs. The sidewalk is also closed.

The bridge construction project is scheduled to continue until Aug. 26.
