And the government said, let there be snow
Province contributes $50,000 for snow-making machines so winter festival can be staged
The provincial government will contribute $50,000 for snow-making equipment so Fredericton's Winterfest can be staged if there's no natural snowfall, festival organizers said Thursday.
The festival was cancelled last year due to a lack of snow. Two years ago, snow had to be trucked in.
Festival organizer John Antworth said the equipment will be put to good use.
"It takes about 16,000 cubic meters of snow to build the slide and the maze and so on," he said.
The festival will take place Feb. 3-4.
