Accused in paint thinner, lighter attack pleads not guilty

A Moncton man accused of dousing a woman in paint thinner and threatening to set her on fire has pleaded not guilty.

A Moncton man accused of dousing a woman in paint thinner and threatening to set her on fire has pleaded not guilty.

Shawn Ezerskis, 30, appeared in Moncton provincial court on Thursday to face the charges of assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

A trial date will be set next week.

Ezerskis remains in custody. He has been ordered to have no contact with the complainant.

A 24-year-old woman told police she had been assaulted by her boyfriend on Jan. 25, RCMP have said.

The woman said her boyfriend had poured paint thinner on her, lit a lighter and threatened to set her and their apartment on fire, police said.
