Saint John police are investigating the theft of brass coils worth $66,000 from NB Power's Coleson Cove Generating Station.

The 24 brass coils were stolen some time between December 2012 and Feb. 14, Sgt. Jay Henderson said in a news release on Friday.

Henderson said the coils are used to rebuild the generators at the Saint John facility on King William Road.

The coils are described as being 24 by 18 inches, and look similar to a carpenter's square, he said.
