Three teenagers are expected to face aggravated assault charges in connection with a brutal attack in Elsipogtog First Nation on New Year's Day, say RCMP.

A 30-year-old man was found unconscious along Sunset Drive shortly after midnight, Cpl. Chantal Soucy said in a statement.

The victim remains in a Moncton area hospital, in serious condition, with head injuries, she said.

Three suspects, ages 18, 17 and 16, were arrested and released on conditions, said Soucy.

The 17-year-old is scheduled to appear in Elsipogtog court on Wednesday.

Court dates of Jan. 15 and Feb. 5 have been set for the 18-year-old and 16-year-old.
