Fredericton firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a house fire on the city's north side Tuesday morning.

The department said it received a call just before 7 a.m. about a fire on Bridgeview Court, not far from the Princess Margaret Bridge.

Trucks from three fire stations were called in to help and the fire was out within ten minutes.

"Fire in an upstairs bedroom, one bedroom apartment. The tenant was home at the time but everybody was out of the building when we arrived," said Art Van Horne, a Platoon Captain with the Fredericton Fire Department.

He said there were two apartments in the building.

"They were all out when we arrived on the scene and it's been turned over to fire prevention to determine the cause."

The platoon captain said it’s not clear if the fire started in the living room or kitchen.

Van Horne said there is some fire damage to the kitchen and smoke and water damage in the rest of the apartment.
