A second suspect has been charged in connection with the theft of a bird from a pet store in Dieppe last month, say RCMP.

A 39-year-old man from Elsipogtog has been charged with theft under $5,000 and remains in custody until a bail hearing on April 23.

A sun conure named Vern was stolen from PetCulture on Paul Street on March 27.

The medium-sized, brightly coloured parrot, which is worth more than $1,000, has been recovered safe and sound.

A private citizen found him and returned him to the store on April 7.

A 52-year-old man from Moncton pleaded guilty on Monday to theft under $5,000 in the case and was remanded until April 23 for sentencing.
