A 47-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of another man in Geary on Wednesday morning.

Harry Edward Charlie McKenna is accused of killing Kirk Blair.

Police were called to a house on Branch Road at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, where they discovered the body of a 61-year-old man.

One man was arrested at the scene without incident, while police spent several hours searching for another suspect in the case.

McKenna did not enter a plea during a brief court appearance in Burton late Wednesday afternoon.

 He has been remanded in custody and will return to court on May 16.

Meanwhile, another man arrested in connection with the case, is expected to face charges on Thursday.

David John Doucette, 24, who is known as DJ, was arrested in Burton late Wednesday afternoon.

The RCMP had asked for the public's help in locating Doucette and identified him as a suspect.

Police said he was seen leaving the crime scene on foot.

Doucette was living in Geary, but is believed to be originally from the Halifax neighbourhood of Spryfield.

He was found around 3 p.m. Police said he was taken into custody without incident.

The RCMP stated in a release the individuals knew each other and the homicide is being treated as an isolated incident.
